Windswept Girl maintained our pleasing strike rate with a decisive victory on her racecourse debut in the bumper at Taunton on Sunday in the colours of our sponsor

She was the only mare in the line up, and she put the boys firmly in their place as she pulled thirteen lengths clear in her defeat of Le Crunch. A thrilling win for her very patient syndicate owners who had a very enjoyable day at our local racecourse.

She was a bit green in the early stages but Windswept Girl soon warmed to her task before moving into contention on the final bend and she soon stretched clear to win unchallenged in the hands of Rex Dingle, our conditional jockey . I'm so pleased for Rex who was completing a double on the day.

Her task was eased when the favourite Flash de Touzaine ran out at half-way while leading, but she was so dominant in the closing stages that I’d like to think she may well have prevailed anyway.

Windswept Girl is out of a six race winning mare by Old Vic and was in training last season before we decided to give her more time to mature and fulfil her potential.

She has progressed nicely in recent weeks and won so well at Taunton there should be more to come from her.
