Kid Commando produced an electrifying performance on his debut for the yard in the bumper at Fontwell today.

While we’ve liked the horse since we bought him at the Punchestown Festival sale and he has been going well at home I can’t say I expected to see him win in such commanding style.

He led from the start at a sensible pace, eased further ahead on the final bend before pulling further clear in the straight to beat Threeunderthrufive by fully eighteen lengths.

Obviously his point-to-point experience was a big plus going to Fontwell and he is out of a very smart jumps mare Banjaxed Girl who won eight times and once had a rating of 153.

Aidan Coleman was understandably very impressed by Kid Commando who knew his job and will probably appear next in a Listed bumper at Ascot.

The thing that thrilled me most about him was the turn of foot he displayed that put his seal on the race in a few strides on the bend.

He has a lovely attitude and has been away for a racehorse gallop but we haven’t overdone things with him so hopefully there is plenty more to come.

We certainly look to have two really nice types with Kid Commando and Midnight Callisto who also won with plenty in hand at Fontwell recently.
