My Dance took a welcome step forward with a decisive first success over hurdles at Fontwell on Monday.

We bought her in the spring shortly after she won a three horse maiden point-to-point at our local meeting at Littlewindsor. She is owned by a small syndicate run by our yard sponsor Matt Bisogno and Geegeez.co.uk.

My wife Rachael was impressed by the professional way she raced that day with the bonus that she is an extremely well bred mare out of My Petra who won seven times including a Grade 2 Chase at Ascot.

My Petra was also second in the Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham and Rachael was determined to have My Dance after she popped down to Devon to sit on her a few days after the point-to-point.

While My Dance has not been running badly for us this season she hadn’t quite put it all together until Monday.

She jumps so well and has such a good attitude that we decided to make full use of those assets by setting out to make all the running at Fontwell.

The plan worked so well that she was in charge throughout and was still full of running as she passed the winning post eight lengths clear of the runner up Bee Crossing.

Now that My Dance has upped her game and won in style there will be more options for her in the coming months.

Long term she should make a lovely broodmare.
